Ansaru-ud-deen Commissions Ultramodern Mosque In Amuwo, Tasks Members On Unity By Shakirah Adunola

Ansaru-ud-deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN), Kuje Amuwo Branch, has commissioned an ultramodern mosque to aid religious activities in the community.

The new Mosque located at 225, Old Ojo Road, Agboju Amuwo, Lagos was commissioned amidst merit awards presentation to those who contributed towards the establishment of the branch and the mosque project.

It will be recalled that the mosque was first built along Badagry Express Road after which it was demolished during the Babatunde Fashola regime in the process of widening the highway.

During the official commissioning of the branch ultramodern mosque and merit award ceremony, the guest lecturer, Missioner ADSN Northern State Council, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello enjoined Muslims to desist from any act of division as togetherness brings progress to the ummah. “There should not be any division or discrepancies in the Muslim community.”

He commended the resilience and commitment of the awardees and leadership of the society on the completion of the Mosque project and appealed to members of the society to shun any act that could jeopardise peace in the branch.

“This is a great landmark; you received an award when Ansarudeen clocked 100 years.” Chairman, Ansar-ud-deen Lagos State Council, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olabode Salaudeen, described the occasion as the most joyous moment for him and members of the branch because the edifice was completed in their lifetime.

He tasked members of the mosque to uphold maintenance culture.

“This is a new mosque, let us endeavour to maintain the mosque with money realised. Makkah is always clean and neat due to the proper maintenance culture practised by the Saudis.” He advised the awardees not to relent on efforts to propagate Islam because the Almighty rewards every sacrifice made on the part of Islam.

Chairperson, Women Council ADSN, Lagos State Council, Alhaja Safurat Animashaun, urged members not to relent on the part of the deen and advised Muslim women to be mindful of their dressing and conduct in society.

“Dress well in accordance with the tenets of Islam, avoid nudity and watch how you behave in society. Muslim women are expected to be modest and well-behaved, and don’t allow society trends to jeopardise your religion.”
She tasked the executives of the branch on welfarism to bring more people into the fold of Islam.

She commended the awardees, saying the meritorious award is well deserved. “They have tried their best, it is only Allah that can reward them. We appreciate all their efforts.”

One of the awardees, former Chairperson, Division Two FESTAC Branch, pioneer member, Kuje Amuwo Ansarudeen Branch, Alhaja Nurat Babs-Olohunkemi, praised Allah (SWT) for the successful completion of the mosque, noting that the branch began right in her home.

“We all attended the FESTAC Branch, due to the distance, most especially crossing the express road, my husband and others came together to start Ansar-ud-deen Kuje Amuwo Branch with the special grace of God, we are granted the go ahead.

“We started in my house and as the number kept increasing, we saw the need for a more spacious place. During the holy month of Ramadan, as we were having an inter-house Ramadan lecture, my husband spoke with one of the elders in the community to give us a piece of land in front of his house to have our meeting and he said instead of us using the front of his house, he will rather give out a piece of land along the express road where the former mosque was built, but unfortunately it was demolished and we were given another piece of land on Old Ojo Road where the new mosque is now built,” she said.
