Update On The Traffic Situation: Thursday 9th October 2025

Good morning, esteemed leaders and elders of the Lekki Peninsula.

Please find hereunder, updates on the traffic situation on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, as at 7.40AM today.

1. As promised by our state authorities, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) @ commenced rehabilitation of failed portions of the road yesternight. Updates from the several work gangs, the LASTMA Team and the LERSA Transportation Committee as at this morning, did show that some relief is manifest.

2. For wider reach and more rapid deployment, the Craneburg Construction team has been directed to join in the rehabilitation operations between Jakande, Chevron and other needy areas of the Lekki-Epe Expressway. Earthmoving equipment and other requisite materials are at this moment being moved to site, and we are sure that more succour will come before close of business today.

3. The enhanced traffic management resources deployed yesterday will be sustained today. We are optimistic that the LASTMA, FRSC and Police commanders will also step up their enforcement tempo today.

Many thanks to the Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Olubunmi Daramola @ who has always been in constant touch with us to address all the major issues. Of note is Engr. Daramola’s engagement with us and other critical stakeholders all night, and his total coverage of all pertinent matters.

We also thank the Hon. Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi @ for his steadfastness and focus; within and beyond the transportation component.

Of course; kudos also to the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Noheem Babatunde Adams @+234 703 869 8271 who was also up all-night with us and the LASG team, to ensure that yesterday’s mayhem does not ever repeat itself.

Dear elders, leaders, residents and stakeholders of the Lekki Peninsula, we are not unmindful of the need for periodic and proactive maintenance of critical road assets across the peninsula. Our leaders in government are working on a more comprehensive and permanent solution, which will be shared with us in a stakeholders’ session, in due course.

Once again, please convey our sincere apologies to all those in your estates and communities who were caught in the road traffic challenges of the past few days.

There are certainly better days ahead.

Very warm regards and God bless,

Sulyman Bello
President, LERSA
