The controversy surrounding the Lagos-Calabar coastal road has continued to evolve. Listen to the issues raised by a faction of Afenifere.
1) The project was not an emergency procurement. Why was the due process not followed? What role did the BPP play in awarding the contract? Why was there no competitive bidding?
2) The President himself has publicly acknowledged that the owner of HiTech Construction is his business partner. Was that a misspeak or acceptance of guilt?
3) Why did the project start in Lagos? The owners of HiTech have interest in Eko Atlantics, a prime real estate in Victoria Island. The Lagos-Calabar coastal road will open up Eko Atlantics and enhance its value.
4) Is Mr. President abusing his office? Is it legal and ethical to use one’s office to grant business favors to one’s business partners?
5) Has Tinubu and his business interests benefited from these transactions?
If some or all of these are answered, and the answers implicate the President, then Afenifere may be right in asking NASS to start an impeachment process.
But this will not happen. Not in this rubber stamp NASS.
