“Talk is Cheap, Patriotism is Rare: Who’s Really Building Nigeria?” By Akin Olari J. Jegede

What I don’t understand about Nigerians is their ability to conplain and their inability to be a responsive citizens. It is always about the president not the governors and the citizens themselves.

For how long do we want to remain a complaining nation? What ate we contruting to nation building? In what ways are we behaving like sanes citizens should behave? This is not exonirate our selfish and planless leaders who care about themselves, cronies and imidiate families.

Aaides sitting all these years criticizing on radio what are the impactful endeavours uncle Jimmy has done to elevate the the teeming youths of this country? Talk is cheap so they say. The funny thing about these professional critics is that if given a chance they cant even do better but they have chosen a profession, a career in criticism.

Often time than not, we dont even know who’s genuinely criticising for the love of the country or those who are doing it base on hate, ethnicity, religious or selfish lnterest.

People who do not have the moral standing to speak about the ills of this country have now assume the moral status to condemn, reprimand call people out on their platforms as self-styled moralists whose records both in the home front and in public life has nothing to write home about them.

Few days ago, somewhere in Edo state, where APC members were receiving decampees from opposition party, PDP, former governor, Adam Oshiomole sent some micelles of thunderous words to some people we all know like the back of our palms who have asigned themselves as our moral compass, they judge wrongly or rightly but most times out of bitterness and preference to a political parties of their choices. There is even one over 40yrs of age unmarried yet will disect and criticise proudly married men and women in an ego driven style and manner. The oldest man among them who should have tiniest shame no mater how little but unfortunately, is louder and mouthful than many decent Nigerians. The chunk part of money meant to deliver projects and alleviate security has found its way into his bank account just because he was called to table to wine and dine with power that be after many years of praise singing. He was paraded bt EFCC. We all saw it. Today, nobody is morally upright in Nigeria but him. Is that not laughable? A man who has crashed 3 marriages and on the no4 to the Gondolas right now–write love poems and love dovey scenes like a drunk man who fell in love with another drunk opposite sex in a local beer parlour.

Even the man they work for in sane climes would have seized to be a free man long time ago but in Nigeria criminals are celebrated and honoured and there are thousands of people willing to work and die for them in exchange for little scrubs

May Nigeria be great!!!
