Ronaldo Becomes Second Men’s Player To Reach 100 International Goals

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th and 101st international goals for Portugal to lead his country to a 2-0 win over ten-men Sweden in the UEFA Nations League match played on Tuesday.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner secured his 100th goal in the 44th minute with a 25-yard free kick that found the top corner of the net, while the second goal of the night arrived in the second half.

His trademark celebration followed as he wheeled away in delight towards the Portugal bench to celebrate with Santos and the substitutes.

The goals make Ronaldo the first ever European player to achieve the 100-goal milestone.

The 35-year-old Juventus forward is also the second male footballer ever to accomplish the feat behind Ali Daei of Iran, who scored 109 in his career.

“I managed to beat this milestone of 100 goals and now [I’ll go] for the record. It’s step-by-step. I am not obsessed because I believe the records come in a natural way,” said Ronaldo.

Manchester United, Ronaldo’s former club, also took to its Twitter page to congratulate the football star.
