If a man can feed, have a place to sleep and have clothes to wear, a major part of his problems has been solved. This is an idea that speaks to the lower middle class and mass market (this is about 90% of total Lagos population alone=N20m people). There are some people that have good clothes, shoes but they hardly wear them anymore, what if you have a platform where you can sell those clothes for as little as between N500 – N2,000.
So this is the business idea, set up a platform (web,mobile app, Whatsapp etc-notice all the ideas are all set up on platforms, and this is essentially to reduce initial capital requirement). Create a marketing program and awareness that you want to buy used clothes and shoes, let your clients upload the pictures of what they want to sell, value the clothes and pick them up via Logistics (bike etc), identity small scale dry cleaning bizs and shoe makers (@shoerevamp etc) and refurbish the clothes and shoes.
Then create both an online store and physical outlet (using the youth as agents) to sell to the lower middle class and mass market between N2k to N5k tops. There are millions of drivers, bricklayer’s, carpenters, vulcanizers, and artisans who can’t afford new clothes but will buy a nice TM Lewin shirt if well refurbished at N3k, note that they already patronize “OK” clothes (second hand), so this is already a tested market.
