Promotion: Lagos Replaces Exam With Training | Punch

The Acting Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs. Folasade Adesoye, has said the introduction of the ‘Structured Training Programme’ to replace written examination for staff appraisal will enthrone merit in workers’ assessment and promotion.

Adesoye, who spoke at the briefing of eligible officers for 2017 promotion, which is the pilot of the revised promotion exercise, explained that the new system of promotion was particular on meritorious performance and competitive knowledge.

She said, “The new model was approved by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, in furtherance of his quest for a more vibrant, efficient and proactive public service. The model has taken into cognizance the essence of an effective staff evaluation and advancement system which is focused on meritorious performance and competitive knowledge.”

Adesoye said the policy review showed that change was constant and inevitable, adding that civil servants must embrace the spirit of hard work and total dedication to duty, which would make them better officers and guarantee their career advancement.

“I urge you to take full advantage of the structured training courses which are designed to update your knowledge and enhance professional development,” she said.
