On Ben Murray Bruce by Olasunmade Adebayo Kiyesi

ben bruce

After listening to his address recently at a forum, I am convinced that at last, a Nigerian bourgeoisie is going into the Senate to ensure that our collective resources are utilized for the good of the majority. At the said forum, where the creme de la creme of our society are in attendance, Mr. Ben Murray Bruce delivered his address for more than 30minutes standing, and without holding any prepared speech.

I never had the opportunity of seeing him at close range, and still don’t, neither have I had any interaction with him till date, but I never knew he is so intelligently gifted, apart from seeing him as one of the rich in our society. It was therefore there and then I concluded that with him, and probably few others like him, in the Upper Chamber of the legislature, there is still hope for the poor in the land. I am convinced that he, Mr. Ben Murray Bruce, will struggle to see that President Muhammadu Bihari gets the required support from the legislature to ensure that things are done right in this country, for the betterment of the voiceless majority of our society.

Going through this write up therefore, one can see that this is vintage Mr. Ben Murray Bruce. While many contributors to the pains being currently experienced from fuel scarcity have been trading blames, here is someone, who has the means of circumventing the effects of the pain, proffering solutions to the problem. Coincidentally, his first recommended approach to solving the problem tallies with President Muhammadu Buhari’s suggestion when campaigning for votes.

I must however emphasize that the other two recommendations of Mr. Ben Murray Bruce are too aristocratic, and cannot benefit the varse majority of our society. For instance, legallizibg the illegal refineries will litre our filling stations with adulterated fuels, with its attendant damage to the vehicles purchased with the hard earned resources of the poor. The bourgeoisies like my brother, Mr. Ben Murray Bruce can afford not to patronise our filling stations. This he already mentioned later in his write up, when he recommended solar powered cars which are completely out of the reach of the majority.

In all, I am in total support of his first recommendation, which is for the government, through the rejuvenated NNPC, to enter into agreements with refining organisations outside Nigeria which will make us trade our crude for refined products, thereby removing the corruption laded middlemen in the name of petroleum marketers. This will not be difficult for our peoples President to implement, since it agrees with his own thinking. God bless our nation.
