NIPOST Upgrades Mail Tracking System

To commemorate the World Post Day and the role post and courier services play in the society, the Nigerian Postal Service has announced the upgrade of its mail tracking system – track and trace.

The NIPOST Lagos Zonal Manager, Mrs Adebola Ayeni, made this disclosure while speaking on the sidelines of the 50th anniversary of World Post Week and award ceremony themed ‘145 Years Delivering Development’ held in Lagos.

The World Post Day celebration was initiated by the German Minister of Post, Heinch Von Stephen, on October 9, 1969 for all member countries of the Universal Postal Union built over 145 years of delivering development.

Ayeni assured that with the system upgrade, customers all over the globe would be able track their items conveniently both locally and internationally without any challenges.

“NIPOST has gone digital; we have integrated a lot of digital services such as e-money order, digital addressing system, e-counter services and a lot more into our daily operation so as to satisfy our customers,” she said.

“With the increased rate of online orders, our e-commerce and e-logistics venture is gradually taking a central place in business networking.”

On this, Ayeni added that more Small and Medium Enterprises were taking advantages of NIPOST wide range of networks by partnering with them to deliver their online customers’ orders all over Nigeria.

Ayeni also noted that in the last few years, there had been transformational changes in the Nigerian Postal Service.

She stated that connecting people globally had long been regarded as a core social obligation of the postal agency.

“During this period, NIPOST has put in place an International Postal System and lntegrated Postal Management System in order to improve access to postal services within and outside the country, ” Ayeni added.

She said, “The Address Verification System is gaining ground, and so is the Digital Addressing System, which our Postmaster General is passionate about. Our counters have been automated with the latest ICT faculties making it easy for customers to receive and transfer their money to any part of the country at the shortest possible time.

“NIPOST has come a long way, is still alive and making waves in Nigeria’s business world over,” Ayeni said.
