Kayode Samuel Wrote!!… Forwarded

My views on godfatherism in Nigerian politics have not changed.

Firstly, both the benefactor and the beneficiary are complicit in subverting the people’s will – neither is therefore entitled to making any angelic pretensions. If a man was good enough for you to use his resources and structure to get into an office, don’t start to display “smartness” by discovering his bad sides only after you’re comfortably on the seat.

Going forward, operationally, you either free yourself from him early enough or bide your time. And while on the latter, exercise wisdom and play by his rules. Don’t get into any show of sham morality or fake epiphany after reaching the top on an immoral ladder.
People who could not help you achieve your ambition should not suddenly become your closest advisors on how to deal with the one who lifted you up. I wish all the people who squirm under the weight of their godfathers all the best. But know that you asked for it!
