Here Are 2 Simple Steps to Block Spam Calls on Your Smartphone

Spam calls aren’t just a nuisance, they are a rage-fueling, temper-fraying, patience-ending nightmare that make you want to throw your phone at a wall and curse anyone who happens to be stood within 10 feet of you. It doesn’t need to be this way though. In fact there are a number of ways to avoid and block spam calls, including this lot.

1. BLOCK THE NUMBER

Don’t want to run the risk of a sales company flouting the law? Blocking them’s the best way to leave them on the distraction-free naughty step from now until the end of time. It’s much easier to do then you’d expect too.

Noticed that you’re getting repeated unsolicited calls from the same number? Fine, it’s time to block them. If you’ve got an iPhone, the first thing you’ll need to do is add the number to your Contacts book–storing it under something like “Douchebags 1” will do the trick. Now, if you go to Settings > Phone > Blocked > Add New you’ll be able to put the spammers on the endless naughty list.

2. INSTALL iOS 10

OS Install

Apple’s next major iPhone-friendly software release isn’t just about giving Siri new skills and your phone the ability to work out who’s in your photos without you telling it. It’s gaining the ability to work out when incoming calls are likely to be spam, and alert you to it.

The new software will keep track of the calls you most frequently reject or quickly hang up on, as well as those that have been repeatedly reported as being on the iffy list. Once it’s worked out what’s what. Be warned though, if you keep rejecting your mom’s calls, she could soon be shown as a spam warning, and that’s not very nice is it?

Although the full iOS 10 release won’t roll out until September, presumably alongside the iPhone 7, the public iOS 10 beta is available as a free download right now.
