France Beat Uruguay 2-0 To Qualify For World Cup Semi-Final

France have beaten Uruguay 2-0 to qualify for the Semi-final in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.

France dominated possession from the beginning of the match and it paid off in the 40th minute when Raphael Varane head in for France.
Antoine Griezmann had approached the ball, stuttered, and then clipped in a left-footed cross. The hesitation just puts the defence off their stride enough and Varane arrived at full pace to glide a header across and into the far corner.
France sealed up a deserved win on 62 minutes through Atletico striker, Antoine Griezmann. The goal was simply goalkeeping howler.

Paul Pogba started the move well, nipping in to bite the ball back on halfway, he drove forwards and fed Griezmann about 25 yards out. He didn’t have much on so shoots. It’s a good strike but straight at Muslera, he g0t in the wrong position and just flapped at it, helping it through his fingers and forlornly over the line.

According to Tim Vickery, BBC Sport South American football expert, the game was decided by that Muslera mistake.

“A rash foul gave France the chance to take the lead and then it is a tale of two keepers. Muslera always looks like he’s got an error in him. He went too far across, he wasn’t in a right position.

“France are the better side, Uruguay could win if they worked hard and made no mistakes. They made two big mistakes. Suarez and Cavani are one force, it was a great shame that Cavani was not there,” he said.
