Dear Jimi: The State of The Nation And Our ‘Man of God’ By Remi Enisan

jimidisuI listened to your analysis this morning on Classic Fm and could only heave a sigh of relief that you, Uncle JD is finally getting there!

I came across you less than two years ago on the same platform and was absolutely taken in. I promptly searched you out on other platforms, including Facebook and also subscribed to your blog. I thereafter introduced you (so to say), to my husband who then told me about ‘The Discourse with Jimi Disu’. Apparently, he has heard you a couple of times but didn’t pay too much attention. My family thereafter became adherent followers of Uncle JD.

I however began to loose interest when you began to cry foul a week after PMB was sworn in. Your complain then was that he ‘refused to hit the ground running’!

My thought then was that how do you ‘hit the ground running’ in the midst of so much chaos?

How do you get an haemorrhaging man to do a sprint?

I am not a politician, though I think now we must all get involved and take our fate in our own hands, but I knew definitely that something was wrong with the way our country was headed under Goodluck Jonathan.

I was therefore willing to wait when God was merciful enough to interfere in the Project Nigeria, grant us an opportunity for a change of direction, and without unnecessary bloodshed!

I know one cannot go to sleep, trusting politicians to do the right thing but at the same time, we must remain balanced and focused to ensure that we give this country a chance.

Ours is like a country jinxed; where nothing works and even our people are warped in their thinking: the wrong and outrightly absurd has become the norm in our  society.

The only thread of hope I cling to in the Buhari presidency is unfeigned personal integrity, which for me, is what Nigeria need as leadership at a time like this. Sometimes, I feel sorry for the old man because ours is a jungle full of wolves, yet I refuse to loose hope.

When you began your backlash of him because he said his ministers wont be ready till September, I felt it wasn’t an issue to raise such an uproar about, after all, a thousand days will soon become tomorrow.

When the ministerial list was released and another level of ‘crucify him’ started, I wondered why people, especially you, our very own Uncle JD couldn’t voice what some of us realised was going on. You don’t move into an apartment that has been defecated in and begin to hang your beautiful paintings on the wall and put furniture in place just because it is yours to occupy.
Uncle Jimi, I am not advocating for you not to be critical, but I want to be able to know that you are right and balanced more than half of the time.

We must keep our eyes on those who give us the impression of being busy whereas they have nothing to point to as achievement or dividends of democracy for the people. Rather, their jamboree is all about how to further entrench themselves in their pervasion. While they kick against the approval of what is less than their weekly recharge of airtime for their phones as stipends to countless Nigerian youths, they smile to the banks monthly with salaries they are too ashamed to disclose to the public.
It is the ancient God that judges slowly, nowadays, he has become Jehovah sharp sharp!

We will continue to enjoy your discourse and analysis of current issues. God bless our newly anointed ‘man of God’! God bless Nigeria !

  1. I am a behavioural analyst and could tell you a dozen things about his behaviour and inconsistencies in analysis; but his passion and competency in never in doubt. Yes I agree that he should calm down in the vibration and initial reaction to news E.g the way he reacted to news on former finance and petroleum ministers, only for the next day after the news, there are superior information on the matter and the comments becomes better not said…However, his position and comments on PMB only show Uncle JD is professional and wants the best for Nigerians; JD blasted GEJ and showed love for PMB; so for JD to blast PMB for the obvious shows nothing but professionalism…It is a tough job…Keep it up JD!

  2. I can’t but agree with you Mrs Remi. This is a caution to the anointed ‘man of God’ that, has you deliver your message each day always make sure the human thought of perception does not override the holy message…

We follow your analysis everyday but remember that you can’t be right always…..

  3. Nice observation. She spoke my mind The part I love the most is this “our newly anointed ‘man of God’ Looooooll

  4. Dear Remi,

As much as i agree with you on your comments, it is also pertinent we understand the job Baba JD is doing. He is like a football referee, he has split seconds to make a judgement, we are like the viewers with an opportunity for replays, and often times in slow motions.

He is emotional no doubt, but his competence and intelligence in emotional management is also worthy of praise. As a trained journalist cum sociologist what he feels and perceives are quite different, and the social crusader in him will not allow him be if those expressions are not made.

Lastly, this government needs to be constantly jolted into consciousness. We must not allow them to bask for too long in any milestone accomplishment, the road is still very far ahead of us. They are tigers, they need not over celebrate their tigritude. We want to hear their names in action and deeds.

Kudos Remi, and congratulations Baba JD, gradually we are all getting trained, conscientious, and reawakened towards social responsibility, patriotism, and nation building. Baba JD your impact is intense and immense.

We will surely get there! Long live Nigeria!

    • wow,i never knew anyone could read me so well.If only people know what drives me ,they would understand me better, but ethics do not allow us open our insides to listeners/readers.whats important is that,i have seen a good and working Nigeria in my adult life, and i can see the rot now,and i am in a hurry to see Nigeria go back to its days of glory.chikena

  5. I agree with you on this Remi, sometimes i wonder why Jimi goes on and on, as in been too emotional. I didn’t see why he couldn’t understand why PMB had to take his time to form his Govt. than hurrily do it and whole thing crashes on our heads. Pls let him take your advise, he should calm down, digest the news before reacting. i remember the case of RCCG camp programme dueing the ebola saga, that was how he went on and on.

  6. Well said my sister. Exactly my point with uncle jd. I just felt he’s 2 emotional nd he should learn to take his time nd properly digest his analysis b4 pouring them out. I listen to him regularly nd I seriously want him to take a cue from what u av just said cos pple like us want atleast a fairly balanced analysis. My advice is dat may be classic fm should try get a good analyst just like him to also be on d program so they can give us diverse opinions. A very good write up by Remi
