Coronavirus has infected more than two million people across the world, with over 100,000 deaths.
Aaccording to statistics from the John Hopkins University, global coronavirus data as of Wednesday evening was 2,023,663 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 132,276 deaths.
Also, 185 counties/regions have been affected by the pandemic.
With 614,482 patients, the United States currently has more confirmed cases than any other country in the world, while Spain comes next with 177,633 cases, and Italy has recorded 165,155 cases. Yemen has the lowest figure, just one confirmed case.
Although, the virus is spreading rapidly in many countries, and the death toll is still rising, a significant number of people have recovered.
Of the 507,330 persons who have recovered from COVID-19, China tops the list with 78,311 recoveries, followed by Germany with 72,600 recoveries.
The outbreak of COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on March 11, 2020.
Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, governments across the world have halted flights, locked down towns and cities and urged citizens to stay at home, as they develop vaccines and roll out policies on preventive measures to curtail the spread of the virus in their countries.
Preventive measures include regular washing of hands, social distancing and keeping hands away from the nose, mouth and eyes.
