#BayelsaDecides: Bruce reminds Buhari to congratulate Dickson…….Vanguard

murray-bruceBarely a week after Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, got re-elected for a second-term in office, following the December 5 Governorship election and January 10 Supplementary election in the state, Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Sen. Ben Bruce on Friday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to congratulate Dickson for emerging victorious at the polls.

Bruce, who took to his Twitter handle, @benmurraybruce to remind the President to do the needful said: “Is it that President is yet to hear that Gov was reelected? I’m rather surprised at his failure to congratulate him.”

Recall that after the main polls and supplementary elections Dickson, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, polled 134,988 votes to triumph over his predecessor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Timipire Sylva who polled 86,852 votes.

A total of 232,167 votes were cast in the election out of which 6,647 votes were rejected as invalid.

Moses Siasia, a younger brother of Nigeria’s Under 23 football coach, Samson Siasia, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, took a distant third with 1,572 votes despite a high-profile campaign.

Following the announcement of the results, several eminent Nigerians have continued to congratulate Dickson for emerging victorious.

The role call include; Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu; Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Sen. Ben Bruce; Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, among others.
