Arsene Demands The Gunners Fight To The Finish | Metro News

ARSENAL will ‘fight like mad’ in their final seven Premier League games as they bid to qualify for the Champions League, insists Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners are seventh, seven points behind Manchester City in fourth with a game in hand and the Frenchman said before tonight’s home game with Leicester: ‘We have to fight like mad to win our games.’

Boss Wenger has led his side to a top-four finish every season since joining the club in 1996 and he added: ‘The door is open but it demands a consistency from us. It is still possible but we need a near perfect run-in.

‘We need to keep the level of desire and hunger for every game of the season.’ Marseille are reported to be keen on signing Gunners striker Olivier Giroud in the summer but Wenger said: ‘I have had no approach from Marseille and we want to keep [him] at the club.’

Despite uncertainty over his future, Wenger also said he was evaluating transfer targets and said: ‘I work until the last day of the season for the present and the future. What happens with me is a bit secondary, what is important is the [club’s] future.’

■ ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN was in good spirits in training yesterday. The midfielder left Wembley on crutches with a foot injury suffered in Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final win, but could return for tonight’s visit of Leicester.
