Yomi Obileye, Veteran Nollywood Actor, Is Dead

Yomi Obileye, a veteran Nollywood actor better known for his role in ‘Hostages’, a 1997 movie, has passed away.

The sad news was broken on Friday by Gbenga Adeyinka, a multi-award-winning actor.

The comedian confirmed Obileye’s death in a tribute to the deceased on his Instagram page. He also thanked the late actor for the good memories.

“If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane, we would walk right up to heaven and bring you back again. “Rest In Peace Uncle Yomi OBILEYE. Thanks for the memories,” he wrote.

“I can’t help but want to watch “HOSTAGES” again. Sleep well Egbon and May God give your family and fans the fortitude to bear the loss.”

It was gathered that the veteran movie star passed on in the early hours of Friday after battling with an undisclosed ailment.

The deceased was the elder brother of Taiwo Obileye, another veteran broadcaster and actor, who recently took part in ‘Tinsel’, a popular soap opera.

Aside from ‘Hostages’, a movie by Tade Ogidan, Yomi also acted in ‘Palace’, another soap opera, which also featured movie heavyweights like Jide Kosoko, Liz Benson, Antar Laniyan, Tunji Bamishigbin, Dayo Adeneye and Jide Alabi, among others.
