A woman who was shocked to discover she had cancer after visiting her dentist now has a tumour the size of a GRAPEFRUIT growing in her jaw.
Jennie Yoo visited her dentist last year after complaining about a pain in her two front teeth.
The disease caused a tumour in the left side of her jaw and despite six doses of chemotherapy, the cancer continued to grow, swelling the tumour to the size of a grapefruit.
Jennie aid: “I only thought I had some small tooth problem and might need a filling or one pulled put.
“But when the dentist couldn’t fix it I started to get worried. I went to South Korea to see the expert doctor who did X-Rays.
“It was a very big shock when they said there was cancer in the bones around my jaw.
“I didn’t know what to do.”
Jennie’s face has been warped by the tumour and her her nose and eyes are now painfully twisted.
The swelling is so bad that cruel online trolls taunted Jennie and accused her of using Photoshop – despite pictures of her undergoing treatment.
In a video addressed to the bullies, Jennie said the illness had wreaked havoc on her life and now she is desperate to beat the disease.
Speaking from her home in Bangkok, Thailand, she said: “I’ve had six sessions of chemotherapy so far but they were all sporadic, because of how expensive they are. The tumour in my cheek has continued growing.”
Jennie, a former rubber farm worker removing glue from trees, and her parents were initially paying 80,000 Thai baht – around £1,800gbp – for each dose of chemotherapy.
The costs are now being covered by a special medical grant in Thailand, which has a heavily privatized health care system.
Doctors have told Jennie that although she cannot have surgery, another five chemotherapy sessions could cure the problem.
Jennie, who wears a mask and hat when she leaves the house to avoid stares from passersby, is now desperate to have the remaining treatment and find a job and support herself.
She added: ”My parents take care of me and pay for the home and food, but it is not fair for me to rely on them.
”I want to get back to living my life, and have a job like everyone else. I want to feel normal again. I’ll do any job, I want to support myself and be strong.”
