Grammy winners, Wizkid and Burna Boy’s collaboration on the song, ‘Ginger,’ has placed them atop the most streamed artists list on the streaming platform, Spotify, in Nigeria.
With more than 70 million songs, 2.2 million podcast titles, and
over 4 billion playlists available to Spotify listeners in Nigeria, Wizkid and Burna Boy’s collaboration tops Nigerian listeners’ choice list.
Four out of the top five most-streamed artists across Africa are from Nigeria. Topping the list are Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, and Rema.
While Rema’s ‘Bounce’ tops as the most-streamed track in Nigeria over the past month, Wizkid and Burna Boy’s ‘Ginger’ and Teni’s collaboration with Davido on ‘For You,’ came out tops.
With a strong appetite for local sounds, it comes as no surprise that Hot Hits Naija is one of the top-streamed playlists among users. Spotify’s Africa to the world playlist African Heat comes in second reflecting listeners’ keenness to discover music from all over the continent.
According to Spotify, residents of Lagos, Suleja, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Benin City account for the most Spotify streams in Nigeria. The streaming platform also noted that the data used in compiling the list is based on Spotify user consumption between February 23 and March 22, 2021.
