The Action Democratic Party, ADP, has blamed the leadership crisis in Nigeria on lack of proper education on the part of some political leaders.
The Party made this known in a statement issued to newsmen by the spokesman of its Lagos state chapter, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, to congratulate ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo on his recently acquired PhD in Christian Theology.
According to the Party, Obasanjo had proven to political leaders who aspire to acquire an education that age was never a barrier.
While congratulating the ex-President, the ADP said: “the impact of education on leadership is limitless.
“Part of the leadership crisis the country is currently facing is as a result of lack of proper education and must not be allowed to repeat itself.
“We urge leaders who have been in retirement for so long to also take the advantage of the National Open University of Nigeria to add academic value to their lives.
“As part of our agenda when given the opportunity to lead the country, education and research will take a reasonable part of their yearly budget as we believe that education is the light to the soul of mankind and panacea to true development.”
