The Nigeria Football Federation has thrown more light on how Sunday Oliseh, who resigned his appointment as Super Eagles coach last week was engaged for the plum job. In a release signed by its Director of Communication, Ademola Olajire, the NFF debunked insinuations that Oliseh was “handpicked” and said, “ the appointment was thoroughly thought-through; it went through a meeting between himself and the Technical Committee and was ultimately approved by the entire Executive Committee of the NFF.” Explaining further, the football governing body said, “The NFF had the best of intentions in hiring Mr. Sunday Oliseh, and despite the misgivings about his temperament, he was seen as a bright young coach able to take the Super Eagles to new heights.” In further defence of their choice for the coach, the NFF said, “this view was premised on his resume, (having played in various countries around the world), his undoubted football knowledge and his currency of ideas (being a respected former Super Eagles Captain and a member of the FIFA Technical Study Group.” The football house feels betrayed by the coach and termed his resignation as “unfortunate,” as they were of the belief that things could have taken a turn for the better within a short time. The statement added, “despite the temporary financial difficulties which crept into the relationship in the last 4 (four) months, the NFF Executive Board took a long term view of his appointment and remained confident that with a little more patience on the part of the Coach, things would have turned around for the better in the long run”.

It is a lie. Oliseh was hand picked by the NFF. I feel three or four coaches would have been picked and interviewed accordingly.And also if they wanted Oliseh to succeed he would have started from the cadet level before qualifying for the senior level. Which club did he coach oversee that would have qualified him as the candidate choose to coach our national team?. The problem is from NFF, because they step on innocent toes.
