Telephone Conversation: The President and his Musician Friend
..Yes the musician , King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1), should let the public know that he’s that close to the seat of power to warrant a call from Mr President , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu commiserating with him on the death of his mum within hours of her passage.
However, the deliberate publicity stunt with the Telephone Conversation, obviously scripted to demonstrate his closeness to Mr President, should have been done with some finesse and decorum.
Putting the President on Speaker Phone, recording and throwing the content of their conversation, warts and all, in the public domain is impolitic and a gaffe on his part.
The conversation and the way he addressed the president was somehow untidy to put it mildly. Apart from the Office of the person he addressed as Iwo , (You) , there’s a marked age difference between the duo. Addressing an elder in that way particularly the President of your country is not decorous in any way or form.
The musician should have realized that he was speaking not just to his friend but the President and Command in Chief of Nigeria.
Again what if something confidential had been said in the course of the conversation would he have thrown it into the public domain. He should have applied some little discretions. And it was not a spur of the moment thing , the call was expected and the recording and release on the social media preplanned.
The handlers of the the President must take a second look at that incident and ensure that they set rigid ground rules and protocol for such contacts in the future in order not to embarrass the office and person of the President.
Moment President Bola Ahmed Tinubu calls Wasiu Ayinde to sympathize with him on the death of his mother.
Recall that Wasiu Ayinde lost his mother recently at the of 105years
