Approximately 120 Nigerian undergraduate and graduate students newly admitted to U.S. higher education institutions attended an EducationUSA pre-departure orientation at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos today, July 26, 2016. The newly admitted students enjoyed a wide range of practical advice about U.S. culture and educational expectations to set them up for success, such as building positive relationships with professors and peers, time management, and balancing course workloads with a strong social and community life.
EducationUSA Advisers Chinenye Uwadileke and Adeola Oseni led the session in concert with eleven current and former students from Nigeria who shared extensive wisdom from first-hand experience. Acting Public Affairs Officer Frank Sellin welcomed the group, noting they are beginning a life-changing educational and cultural experience, and urging the new students to bring back their experiences and knowledge to the benefit of all Nigerians
