THE management of African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, publishers of the Tribune titles, has pledged to continue to build on the strong legacies of Papa Obafemi Awolowo and Mama Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, by initiating and promoting nation building values as espoused by the sage.
According to the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of the company, Mr Edward Dickson, who made the pledge on the occasion of the company’s 67th anniversary, in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, “ANN Plc will continue to promote and encourage values that deepen democracy and human enterprise.”
The Tribune, he said, symbolised the immortal and resilient spirit of the Nigerian project.
“It is a reflection of the never-say-die attitude of Nigerians, our doggedness and collective aspiration as a people who can achieve the unthinkable given the right encouragement,” he added.
Dickson thanked the board of directors, management and staff of the company whose loyalty and commitment had made the company a key player in the media industry.
He also specially thanked the generality of Nigerians, who in spite of the nation’s harsh economic realities, had continued to patronise the newspaper.
“We cannot thank Nigerians enough. Their absolute loyalty to the Awolowo legacy all these years have sustained and propelled us to greater heights.
“We will continue to be the voice of the voiceless and uphold our tenets of truth, courage and fairness,” he said.
