Capturing the essence of who you are has been difficult, in a world where fleeting accolades of men means more than the true affirmation. From your rise in 1982 you have always placed Nigeria 1st. Upon your election in 2015 you stubbornly doggedly stood up for the nation you love so dearly.Truly the conductor of Orchestra Nigeria, you turned your back to the audience and focussed on delivering for her. How you managed to keep your eyes on the finish line still baffles me but “seeth thou a man diligent in his business, he will stand before kings and not mean men” By your actions, spoken word or body language all we read is Nigeria First Nigeria First.
On this day, as you turn 80, I am elated and full of joy, joining well meaning Nigerians in celebrating an enigma who with extremely little has done well with projects that cannot be denied. As your days are so shall your strength be. If I had one wish it would be for you to write a biography but your concern that what would be penned about some characters, would have eternal negative consequences on their lineage has stopped you. I salute such deep and selfless thinking and introspection. You have set Nigeria on a path of self sustenance and growth, for many this is difficult to see. We as a people have enjoyed the soft life for so long,we are against any form of hardwork, sweat or struggle.
Nations need men of vision and singular focus like you, in the years ahead even your biggest critics will have to accept you truly made strident attempts at placing Nigeria on a better footing. We celebrate with you Madarikan, Ekun Oko Aisha, Baba Zahra,Halima,Yusuf,Amina and Aisha. Rebuilder of things termed impossible, slayer of the carpet baggers, middlemen, and rentseekers,Visionary leader and a man with a large heart for Nigeria.
