Salami Kazeem Response To “Buhari and AFRICOM By Adekeye Adebajo”
ENDProfessor Adebajo missed the point in his piece. The President did not ask for sitting Africom in Nigeria, but in Africa.
The professor should realise by now that we are unable to tackle the movement of terrorists through Libya, Mali, Senegal, Chad and Niger.
All these countries are in crisis due to flooding by terrorists and terrorist organizations.
Asking America to site it’s African military command on the African continent is in my view not out of line.
It is America that has the wherewithal in terms of funding and equipment to tackle this crisis.Even France has been in Mali since 2013 and has not been able to successfully defeat terrorists in that sector. Even recently, Britain deployed a hundred of its troops to Mali to try and tackle the insurgents.
It is clear we are in crisis mode in Africa as no single African country can hope to tackle this rising insurgency successfully on its own without the assistance of world powers.
