Otunba Doherty Escapes Abductio At 1004 Estates By Fake EFCC Operatives

The Managing Director of Style Properties, Otunba Akinsanya Doherty, appeared favoured by fate after three men, suspected to be bandits, posed as EFCC operatives and attempted to abduct him at 1004 Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos but was rescued by the efforts of the residents.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the three suspects, David Olasoji, 44, Babatunde Oyesanmi, 44 and Austine Ofuani, went to the estate and pretended to be operatives of EFCC with its apparatus and were looking while attempting to abduct Otunba Doherty in the guise of arrest over an undisclosed offence.

This caused uproar in the estate as the residents questioned their action and wondered why they will invade the estate without inviting Doherty or with an arrest warrant.
However, when the suspects realised that they will not be able to carry out their plan of abducting Doherty, they withdrew and hurriedly left the estate.

The incident was reported to the Police intelligence team from IGP- IRT led by DCP Abba Kyari, who moved into action, apprehended the suspects and detained them for interrogation.

In the course of investigation, it was discovered that they were not operatives of the EFCC; they only posed to use the EFCC to abduct Doherty.

Having been found culpable, they were charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy, impersonation and fraud.
They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Barrister Nosa Watson, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 10th March, 2021.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendants actually wanted to abduct him posing as EFCC in order to obtain ransom, which eventually failed.
