Osimhen Shuts Critics Up With Goal As Napoli Beat Udinese By Oluyemi Ogunseyin

Victor Osimhen on Wednesday night shut his critics up by scoring a goal to help Napoli devour Udinese 4-1 in a Serie A match played at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

There had been doubts whether Osimhen would be included in Napoli’s starting line-up by Rudi Garcia due to his rude reaction to his substitution by the coach against Bologna.

The 24-year-old’s rude reaction to being taken off in the 86th minute had generated serious media scrutiny in Italy, with the Nigerian forced to apologise over his behaviour.

Napoli admin on TikTok had also disrespected Osimhen on Tuesday by trolling him over his call for the penalty he missed in a 0-0 draw with Bologna in a Serie A match last weekend.

Osimhen, however, put all his travails aside to do the business of scoring goals for Napoli as he hit the back of the net to help Napoli get back to winning ways against Udinese.

The Nigerian international striker put the Partenopei 2-0 ahead in the 39th minute courtesy of an assist from Matteo Politano before being replaced by Giovanni Simeone on 63 minutes.

Fellow compatriot Isaac Success registered his first Serie A assist of the 2023/24 season after setting up Lazar Samardzic to score Udinese’s consolation goal in the 80th minute.
