Ondo Deputy Governor To Sign a Letter of Resignation

The deputy governor of Ondo state, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa is to sign an undated letter of resignation as the deputy governor and transmit the letter to President Bola Tinubu. In addition, he is to withdraw all legal cases instituted/instigated by him over the lingering crisis in Ondo state.

These were part of the decisions reached last night at a meeting held at THE VILLA by President Bola Tinubu with major stakeholders in Ondo state.

There were two meetings held at THE VILLA on the issue. The first was held between the President and top aides of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. It started at 5.30 p.m. and ended at 9.30 p.m. while the second meeting started at 10.45pm and ended at 11.30pm.

The ailing governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu did not attend the meeting and neither his wife, Betty, who is presently in Turkey but the son of the governor, Babajide attended both meetings.

The Governor’s aides who attended the meeting included Mr. Ade Adetimehin, chairman of APC in Ondo state, Princess Oladunni Odu, Secretary to Ondo state Government, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, Finance Commissioner, Engr Raimi Aminu, commissioner for Infrastructure, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye, Special Adviser, Hon. Gboyega Adefarati, a member of the House of Representatives and fifteen members of the Ondo state House of Assembly which included the speaker of the , Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, who flew in from London for the meeting.

Senators Jimoh Ibrahim, Jide Ipinsagba and Adeniyi Adegbonmire also attended the first meeting.

The second meeting was an enlarged meeting which was attended by the deputy governor himself, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje, one Mr. Awodeyi Apata from Owo and the eleven members of the Ondo state House of Assembly who are pro Ayedatiwa and have been camped in Abuja for the past four weeks.

In the second meeting, President Bola Tinubu read the decisions arrived at from the first meeting which included that the status quo must remain in Ondo state for the sake of peace. He also announced the names of three enforcement officers who will monitor compliance with the decisions reached at the Abuja meeting. They are the Speaker, Mr Olamide Oladiji, the chairman of APC in Ondo state, Mr. Ade Adetimehin and the Secretary to the Ondo state Government, Mrs. Oladunni Odu.

The President emphasized that there must be peace in Ondo state while wishing the governor quick recovery.
