The last is yet to be heard about controversial Super Eagles gaffer, Sunday Oliseh as his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have slammed a $30, 000 fine (about N6m) on him over his unguarded statement in which he described his critics as insane people. According to mtnfootball.com, the hefty fine is coming on the heels of Oliseh’s last minute escape from outright sack, thanks to the intervention of sports minister, Solomon Dalung.

Sources close to the sports ministry said Dalung pleaded with the NFF to given the loquacious Eagles manager a second chance, but okayed the heavy fine slammed on him.

“Oliseh will now be fined by his employers for as much as six million Naira after the sports minister advised he be given a second chance,” said a source.

Our source further disclosed that the minister has spoken with Oliseh and warned him to stop his social media rants. Nigeria faces Egypt in two crucial AFCON 2017 qualifiers next month.

The Eagles are two points behind group leaders Egypt after two rounds of matches with only group winners guaranteed automatic qualification to Gabon 2017.

The former Nigeria captain Oliseh, who succeeded Stephen Keshi as coach in July, has seen his reign in charge of the three-time African Champions blighted by controversies.

Some high profile players have decided to retire since he took over as coach including goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama – Nigeria’s most-capped player – who quit after he was replaced as captain.

Two weeks later striker Emmanuel Emenike also announced his retirement from international football.
Oliseh, unpaid for five months, had also gone public with the money problems affecting his team during the CHAN tournament to the embarrassment of his employers.
