Olam Nigeria Donates Food, Medical Items To Support Fight Against COVID-19 | TheCable

Olam Nigeria says it has donated food and medical items to support the efforts of the state and federal government in the fight against COVID-19.

Mukul Mathur, the company’s country head, said the donation was made in collaboration with its subsidiaries; Crown Flour Mills, OK Foods, Olam Hatcheries and Caraway, to support residents in Lagos, Kaduna, Rivers, Ogun, Kano, Delta, Kwara, Nasarawa, Ekiti, Cross River states and F.C.T.

Mathur described the pandemic as “an unprecedented crisis necessitating urgent attention” hence the donation of relief materials which would be targeted at the most vulnerable in the society during the shutdown.

“We realize the effect this will have on Nigerians, especially the vulnerable in the society, many of whom earn daily wages, and whose incomes are closely tied to ongoing economic activities, which for now have been halted,” the country head explained.

“It is our belief that our humble contribution will support the overall effort in combating the pandemic as we continue to hope life returns to normalcy as soon as possible.”

The company said the items to be donated would include Mama Pride rice, eggs, Tasty Tom noodles, OK biscuits, and Crown pasta.

It also said it would support health workers with medical supplies and kits like thermometers, masks, hoods, goggles, medical overalls and rapid test kits.

The medical items, Mathur said, would be donated to Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
