The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has cancelled all the Memorandum of Understanding entered into by the leaders of the oil-producing communities in Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas in the state with the oil companies operating in the areas.
The governor gave the directive for the cancellation on Wednesday following complaints by the people of the affected communities when he met with the stakeholders from the two oil-producing council areas.
Okorocha stated that the people had complained that the leaders had been short-changing them by collaborating with the oil companies and threatened to take the laws into their own hands.
