The friendly match between the Super Eagles and the Etalons of Burkina Faso has been cancelled.
Ademola Olajire, spokesman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), confirmed this to TheCable, saying the game was put off because of visa hitches involving the Eagles’ opponents.
“Burkina Faso cancelled the Monday game due to visa issue,” he told TheCable.
“They have not got their UK visa for the team to make the trip down to London for the Monday game.
“About eight of the Burkina Faso’s players have visa issued to them already while others are still waiting for theirs.
“But we all are working round the clock to ensure that the issue is resolved and the match played on Monday.”
Quoting sources in the Eagles camp, SuperSports.com said Burkina Faso was willing to go ahead with the game on the condition that the Nigerian side fly to Morocco, but the option was turned down.
The cancelled match was supposed to be Nigeria’s second friendly in London, having earlier played Senegal.
The game against Senegal ended in a 1-1 draw.
