New Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr will reportedly be earning the sum of N18.6m ($47, 000) per month. Earlier in the month, Rohr signed a two-year contract with the Nigerian Football Federation to be the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles.
Saturday Vanguard learnt that the German will be paid the sum by an oil and gas firm owned by Ifeanyi Ubah,which has agreed to sponsor the NFF. This is very unfair to this nation are we saying no Nigerian is eligible.
We should not be carried away by the agreement that the coach will be responsible for his assistant’s salaries. He already worked it out and factored in the assistants’ salaries into his own pay before accepting the offer. There is nothing special about this coach except for the fact that he’d coached some teams in Africa in the past. If we do not give opportunities to our own, foreigners will not do it for us. When are are those running our football bodies and the govt get wise in this regard?
