Mitch McConnell U.S. Senate Minority Leader Hospitalised

United States Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has been hospitalized after tripping at a Washington D.C. hotel on Wednesday night.

McConnell, 81, was having dinner at the hotel when he took a tumble, his spokesperson said.

“This evening, Leader McConnell tripped at a local hotel during a private dinner,” the spokesman said. “He has been admitted to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

The spokesperson didn’t provide details on the extent of the Republican’s injuries.

The minority leader was reportedly at the Waldorf Astoria DC for an event when he fell, according to Punchbowl News reporters.

McConnell, 81, was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1984. He served as the Senate majority leader from 2015 to 2021, and the Senate minority leader since then.

Before his election to the Senate, he served as judge-executive of Jefferson County, Kentucky from 1978.
