Michigan Woman Reunited With Lost Class Ring After 46 Years By Ben Hooper | UPI

June 9 (UPI) — A Michigan woman who lost her high school class ring 46 years ago was reunited with the keepsake thanks to social media.

Mary Gazall-Beardslee said she lost her class of 1975 ring from Powers Catholic High School in Flint about 46 years ago, and she never expected to see it again until she recently received a Facebook message from a man named Chris Nord.

“I received a message in my messenger that said, ‘I have something that may belong to you.’ So, I was very cautious about opening it up. I thought, ‘oh no, it’s going to be spam or something,'” Gazall-Beardslee told WNEM-TV.

She said she was shocked when she saw the item Nord was talking about.

“I went on his profile, and I saw, ‘Please share this,’ and it was a picture of my class ring,” Gazall-Beardslee said.

Nord had posted a photo of the ring on his Facebook page and the post was widely shared. The photo was reported by Powers Catholic High School’s Facebook page, and fellow alumni suggested the initials “MMG” could belong to classmate Mary Gazall.

Nord said his brother had found the ring in a box that had been thrown in the trash about 20 years earlier, and he had been keeping it ever since. He said he recently decided to use social media to renew his search for the owner.

“He said he’s had it for the last 20 years. So, we don’t know what’s happened the first 26 years,” Gazall-Beardslee said.
