Lawmakers summon Lagos HOMS contractors………PUNCH

The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Housing has summoned 28 out of 30 contractors handling the Lagos Homs projects in the Ajara, Badagry area of the state.

The Chairman of the committee, Olanrewaju Layode, spoke on Monday after an inspection of the project, adding that the pace of work at the site was slow.

Layode said, “We are not impressed with the work done; few contractors are on sites, while only some are able to go beyond average performance with the funds given to them.

‘‘The scoring of the New Town Development Authority does not reflect what is on ground for contractors who have received above 50 per cent of funds. The works are below average.’’

Layode urged residents to be patient with the government and assured them that the projects would be completed to provide accommodation for the residents of the area.

He also showed displeasure at the insincerity of the NTDA which was supervising the project for giving wrong rating.

He said, “We have invited the contractors. The House will later pass a resolution on the report of the committee which will be based on the responses of all invited contractors.”

In his remarks, Olushola Shokunle, representing Oshodi/Isolo I Constituency said the committee would ensure that the projects were completed.

The site engineer from NTDA, Mr. Idris Ojurongbe, said some of the contractors were “playing smart,” while others stopped due to poor financing of the project.

The summoned contractors include House Master Limited, Threshold Global investment Ltd, Mudal House Project Ltd, Comprehensive Homes Ltd, L&K Concept Ltd, Guinning Enterprises Ltd, Troy Construction and Developers Ltd, Intercom Ltd and Housing Alliance.

Others are Telesis Signature, Data Alliance Nig. Ltd, Telesol Ltd, Aron Nig. Ltd, Leranod Ventures Ltd, Ex-valve, Jopam Agency, Mode House Agency Project Ltd, and Bison Business Services Ltd.
