WORRIED by the spate of violent crimes across the country, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, Tuesday, led 13 eminent gospel preachers, for a three-hour intensive intercessory prayers for the peace of the nation at the church’s Redemption Camp.
The non-stop prayer rally witnessed by a huge crowd of participants who converged to pray for God’s intervention in the 2019 general elections, the nation’s economy, political leaders, the unity of the Church and the peace and progress of Nigeria.
Declaring the session open after a session of praise and worship, the convener, Pastor Adeboye, said it was dedicated to prayers.
The G.O, who handled the last 26 minutes belt of the prayer rally, prayed for fresh fire upon the Church in Nigeria,
Among the special ministers of God at the prayer session was Elder Christopher Kolade, a former Nigeria High Commissioner to the UK, who prayed for wisdom to manage the nation’s resources in order to reduce waste.
Stressing that God has blessed the country with natural and human resources, Kolade pointed out that there was no reason for Nigerians to be poor.
Earlier, at least 13 different ministers of God from various denominations including a former National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. (Mrs.) Mercy Ezekiel, took turns of 10-15 minutes to lead the participants to pray for different segments of the nation’s life.
Drawing the first blood was an erstwhile Islamic fundamentalist who in 1983 converted to Christianity and now a prominent prophet, founder/president of Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International, Jos, Plateau State, Prophet Isa El-Buba, who led the people in a session of thanksgiving to God for His mercy and grace that have upheld the nation thus far.
Shortly after him, Pastor Austen Ukachi of His Alive Chapel in Lagos led the session for repentance from every corruption in the land.
Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the South-South, Archbishop God-do-well Avwomakpa, took the baton thereafter and prayed for leaders in authority.
Leading the session for the nation’s security agencies, Presiding Bishop of Vineyard Christian Ministries, Archbishop John Osa-Oni, said it is the responsibility of the Church to continually pray for security agents as they fight to protect lives and property especially during insurgency.
Praying aggressively for peace to reign in Nigeria, Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, described peace as the forunner of prosperity in any nation, saying “the moment peace eludes a nation, there will not be progress of any sort.”
Wife of the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Folu Adeboye, on her part, led prayer for peace and joy in the family and for the elders.
Rev. Mercy Ezekiel prayed against blood suckers, corruption, nepotism, human trafficking, pen robbers, urging God to expose, disgrace and deal with all evil doers in the nation.
