If you placed a £5 bet on Donald Trump, Brexit and Leicester winning the Premier League you would have won £15million

A £5 treble bet on Leicester winning the title, the UK voting for Brexit and Donald Trump triumphing in the race to be President of the United States would have returned a staggering £15million.

That’s just how unpredictable 2016 has been.

Bookmaker Paddy Power priced up the odds of all three events coming to fruition at 3,000,000/1. To put that into context the odds of Alien Life being discovered this year are at 80/1.

A few punters memorably placed bets on Leicester triumphing in the Premier League at the start of last season, despite the club being one of the favourites for relegation. All were rewarded handsomely for their optimism.

Paddy Power has confirmed that over 70 gamblers backed the Brexit/Trump double with one customer winning £14,000.

It seems no-one backed all three – but what if they had? Then (because they love a risk) they had upped the ante even more by tacking on one more incredibly unlikely event – England winning the World Cup in 2018?

With the Three Lions currently priced at 18/1 that initial £5 would have turned into £285,000,000.
