A national body, League of Muslim School Proprietors (LEAMSP) aimed at improving Muslim school educational standard in the country, has conducted 2020 LEC exams.
Briefing journalists in Lagos, the Secretary of LEAMPS, Raji Yekini, said 4,264 registered for the exam which is going on in five states across the federation, including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kwara and FCT and the exam will commence shortly in Osun State.
Out of the figure, he said Lagos registered 1,808 candidates, Ogun registered 1,375 candidates, Oyo registered 880 and Kwara 201 candidates. LEC exam is taking place in five centers in Lagos state, Agege, Ikorodu, Gbagada, Ojo, Eti-Osa to ensure that all Muslim school in Lagos state participates in the Exam.
Yekini added that LEAMSP is an organization of Muslim Proprietors formed to bring school owners together towards attaining excellence in the provision of quality education for Muslim children especially, and for as many more other Nigerian children as possible now and in the future.
According to him, LEAMSP provides adequate services and assistance to developing schools towards attaining the required status for registration. It also serves the registered ones in all areas that can further enhance their educational standards in line with the contents of the national curriculum.
He noted that the body has adopted the Computer Based Test (CBT) and e-marking technology for improved performance in the conduct of examinations.
“We started CBT about four years ago, the first siting we have about 14 candidates following year we had 29 last year we have 49 and this year we have 84 candidates”
He said the intentions behind the establishment of the body are to facilitate the establishment of practicable and dependable Muslim education system based on Quran and Sunnah, collaborate with the Government at all levels in the provision or quality education to the children living with the areas where our member schools operate and guide member school through necessary procedures towards securing government approval and assist them in acquiring land for their permanent sites through collective contribution.
He noted that the body maintains cordial relationship with the State Ministry of Education and all other government agencies that are directly or indirectly involved in improving the standard of education. “We partnered with USAID-COMPASS as we very much do with DFID/EESPIN as present, FOMWAN, Religious Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, Associations of Educators, and the Mass Media are all our partners-in-progress”.
