With the high level of employment in Nigeria and the dwindling economic resources, it’s high time we start looking inwards to create our own businesses. We have outlined some interesting business ideas that you can start on a very small scale with a very high probability to scale, generate employment, maximize value and contribute your own quota to the development of Nigeria.
One of the major problems/challenges in this country is health. Not one single person have been able to decode or find a solution to this. However, I have a small idea that someone who is interested can run with and hopefully it can be a start to solving this problem.
Set up a platform (Mobile App, Website, USSD Code), aggregate people who need to access doctors or hospitals (almost 220m people), especially those who are not in paid employment hence no access to HMO etc. get them to be saving or contributing a minimum of N500 monthly (Okada riders, market women, students etc) on your platform via the 3 channels, issue then cards or codes and then approach hospitals, pharmacy, etc and strike a deal with them that who ever comes to thier hospital with those cards or codes from your platform should be treated for some ailments etc. with time approach the organization that issues HMO license and get yourself one.
If you have 100k people (mainly lower middle class) on your platform, at N500 monthly is N50m and even if you pay out N45m for hospital bills, you are still left with N5m profit.
Don’t approach regulation for any license now, start by building your platforms, approach a bank and partner with them, find hospitals to work with, build your system first for the lower middle class before approaching regulator for the HMO licence.
Please ensure you think this through, document it properly and check your numbers.
Have a great day ahead.
