The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, on Friday, declared his intention to contest for the senatorial seat in his district when he vacates the governorship seat in 2015.
Mr. Akpabio stated this on a special edition of ‘Sunrise Daily’, a programme byChannels Television beamed live from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital.
The governor is currently on his maximum second term in office.
“Initially, I thought of retiring quietly back to my village and from politics completely after my tenure during which I have brought uncommon transformation to Akwa Ibom in the last six years.
“But there have been pressures by my people who are yearning for quality representation based on service. I was compelled to reconsider my decision and yield to the people desire by opting to run for the Senate,” Mr. Akpabio said.
JD:Well our” Beester Beegs” gentleman is headed for the hallowed chamber where he probably will teach one or two lessons about acquiring and distributing refreshments. This gentleman keeps going on and on about “uncommon transformation”?Pray thee what could that be?Tarring roads and building a flyover? What century is he living in.
Sorry, I omitted “NOT” above where I stated that the streets/roads are not motorable….
Hmmmmm! So 6annels Television had to go Uyo to transmit live this lie and ego gratification of a governor who only makes noise in the media. Anyway, he is just following the path of former governors who had looted their state treasury, to rest @ the senate. How many of them have contributed meaningfuly to bills? Mr Governor, nobody is asking you to go to the senate.
No transformation going on in Akwa Ibom (not to talk of uncommon transformation). I visit my state regularly, still the same old place with little road construction here and there. Our family house is in the city, and almost all the streets/roads within that neighborhood is motorable (quote me). Akwa Ibom receives more than every other state from the federation account monthly, nothing is done apart from going to Mr. Biggs to eat snacks of one million Naira each. My father is a pensioner, my mother in law is a pensioner, I send money to them beyond my capacity as they hardly get paid. Two of my sisters are civil servants, at times, 2 months running no salaries. Quote me anywhere, I can defend this. Nobody is asking him to run for the Senate, I have home based friends from that senatorial district who maintained that this is not true. They are willing to state this in the open. Akpabio should wait for EFCC (if ever we have EFCC) after his tenure….. Enough of this please.
