Samsung’s latest Android 9 Pie update is now available for most Galaxy S8, S9 and Galaxy Note 9 owners.
This upgrade brings a raft of extras to these phones including a customisable Night Mode, refreshed appearance and a new interface which makes navigating bigger-screen phones more simple.
This upgrade began rolling out in January with many Samsung fans now switching to this latest version of Android which Samsung calls One UI.
However, despite all the new features, it seems many Galaxy users aren’t happy with the refreshed software with forums littered with complaints.
In fact, some are so displeased with what they have seen they are warning others not to download this new Android version.
Posting on Samsung’s community page one user said: “The first 9.0 version has some pretty serious stability and performance issues.
“I STRONGLY recommend waiting for further versions so you would avoid any problems.
“In some aspects, the phone is close to unusable and the battery life is measurably worse after the update!”
And another vented their anger saying: “Sorry but this has annihilated my Note 9.
“I have the handset on EE – since I installed the battery life has taken a huge hit. The phone is glitchy and buggy and becoming a pig to use.
“This was an awful effort from Samsung.”
Similar frustration was felt by another Galaxy fan who posted the message: “Anyone else taken a huge hit on battery life since updating to this garbage?”
It’s currently unclear what is causing the battery issues although it has been pointed out that some phone software upgrades can cause a short spell of reducing performance whilst the device updates all of its settings.
Apple’s iPhone is notorious for this with users often facing two or three days of lower battery times after a new iOS is installed.
If there is a more serious issue then Samsung will probably push out a fix in coming weeks.
And some users have reported that factory resetting the phone once updating to 9 Pie has resolved some of the problems.
Despite plenty of negative comments there are some Galaxy fans who appear to like what Samsung has released with one user tweeting: “@SamsungMobile #oneui hundred times faster and more stable than #touchwiz. Well done!”
And another added: “Loving the new interface so far.”
