Abbo’s outrageous behaviour which further attests to the rising level of indiscipline among Nigerian leaders at various strata, has continued to attract bitter criticisms from concerned citizens. Abbo’s action, which is a serious crime, was avoidable no matter the provocation. He is the face of indiscipline and should be made to face full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others. Abbo is unfit to be a Senator having portrayed Adamawa and NASS in bad light. No wonder he is beneficiary of warped political system and flawed electoral procedure producing undisciplined, clueless, wicked, corrupt and power-drunk political leaders dotting our landscape.
For slapping the woman, Abbo has clearly shown he has no respect for womanhood. Is this how he treats his wife? He is a lawless lawmaker whose weird conduct should be investigated urgently by Ahmad Lawan-led Senate. He should be suspended pending the outcome of investigation. Many were surprised that despite publicly apologising to the victim of his senseless act, he had audacity to plead innocent in court. What a contradiction? This notwithstanding, Abbo’s matter must, judging by the raging heat and comments being generated, not be swept under the carpet like the growing list of previous cases largely because of eminent characters involved. Rather, those policemen IGP Mohammed Adamu has asked to investigate the matter should do a thorough job without fear or favour. The report should be made public. Surely, Nigerians are interested in media coverage of proceedings now that an Abuja Magistrate Court has adjourned the celebrated case for hearing on July 22, 2019 after granting embattled Abbo bail to the tune of N5 million on July 8, 2019.
By the way, there are many Elisha Abbos in and outside NASS but the rest of us must ensure the number is reduced drastically for us to have disciplined, sane and civilised society.
