Achebe challenged us to think aright and try to readdress the things we call right and wrong as Africans. I think we Africans need to go back to where we missed the road.

When Chinua Achebe said that “the White man is very clever”, most people thought he was just syntactically beautifying his passages, but take a look at this scenario where the white man says

Just yesterday, many Africans joined America in the Halloween ( Ife Ekwensu) celebrations but Iriji, Ikeji, and Igba Mmanwu is fetish. Ifugo !!!
Our Traditional attire is not good for the office but a suit and tie under 36 degrees is fine. You forget their weather is Cold. Ji si ike!!
We are told to call on Saint Michael, Saint Barnabas fa dum Ndi ocha to pray for you. These are white ancestors who know nothing about us to pray for us. However, our own Saints Chima, Okoli , Okpuruisi, and Saint Abanobi cannot be called to pray for us. So we need a white man who doesn’t know us or is NOT connected to us to pray for us. Okwa ina afu?
They tell you that Igba ndu is fetish but they make you wear a wedding ring and swear in their churches.
They tell you that oath-taking is wrong but when you go to their courts they make you swear to an oath with their own God.

It’s legendary; how we accept the white man’s idiosyncrasies as standard and swallowed them hook, line and sinker but dislike our culture, language and traditions.
Our ancestors made us understand who the head of the family is but they taught us that Gender is equal; told about women’s liberation and you believe them iikwa? So 70% of us are divorced. Ok odimma!!!
Uncle Achebe said that “Until the lions have their historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter” How have you been able to tell our African stories?
We need to go back to our forefathers and know where these people started messing up with our brains and start thinking right for ourselves.
