Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state today arrived at the gates of the state secretariat as early as 8:00 am Nigerian time to supervise the arrival of state workers to the secretariat.
After, 8 am the governor stopped workers that came late to work from entering the complex. In his usual exuberance and dictatorial style, the governor threatened the workers after tongue lashing them, several of the workers took the unusual step of prostrating to beg the governor so as to save their job. It is the most inhuman and degrading treatment meted out to Nigerian workers since the advent of democracy in 1999.

I hate Sahara reporter with passion, all their article r one sided not objective as d code n ethics of journalism permit. If it was PRESIDENT or any APC governor, they will have embellish this news.
Did the governor ask them to kneel/prostrate? The beggarly instinct to hold on to our jobs for survival probably forced them to do so. As adults they simply should have apologised or be prepared to face whatever the consequences of their (in)action would be. I work in the civil service and lateness is a huge problem/lesser crime for those that even bother to come to work. The system permits late coming. Even where clocking devices exist, staff bribe the colleague in charge of retrieving the log in/out time when the list of late-comers is collated at the end of the month.
The only way this can be minimised is the ‘pay per hour’ worked. As long as we get our salaries intact at the end of the month lateness to work will continue.
Sahara reported misleading people. I agree they werent meant to prostate or knee down but we should ask ourselves ourselves honest truth whether the governor asked them to do so. Its high time our journalist start reporting objectively without shifting focus from the subject matter. God bless Nigeria.
i totally agree with you
