Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria, a civil society organisation, will engage citizens on the impact of petrol subsidy removal in its next Twitter Space conversation.
EiE’s ‘Thursday Talks’ is a monthly conversation on Twitter with thought leaders and active citizens on good governance in Nigeria.
The programme is hosted by EiE Nigeria in partnership with BudgIT, and TheCable as its media partner.
In a statement on Friday, the organisation said this month’s conversation will allow citizens to speak on how the fuel price increase has impacted their lives.
The conversation is tagged ‘Personal stories: How the fuel price increase has affected us’, and ‘Recommendations for government: Mitigating the impact and ensuring social welfare’.
“During this month’s Thursday Talks conversation, citizens would have the floor to share their perspectives on how the removal of fuel subsidy has impacted their daily lives and wallets,” the statement reads.
“During this conversation, we will follow an open-house format, giving citizens the opportunity to speak directly to their firsthand experiences.
“Citizens will share their personal experiences, highlighting the specific challenges they have faced as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy. This segment will serve as a platform for individuals to express their concerns and shed light on the real-life impact of the price increase.
“Participants will discuss the implications of higher fuel prices on their daily expenses, including transportation, household budgets, and overall affordability. We will explore the financial strain experienced by citizens and how it has affected their livelihoods.
“Citizens will provide their suggestions and recommendations to the government on how to alleviate the burden of the fuel price increase. We will explore ideas for policy changes, social welfare programs, and strategies to protect the most vulnerable segments of society.
“Through this conversation, we aim to provide a platform for citizens to express their perspectives, share their stories, and collectively offer recommendations to address the challenges caused by the fuel price increase.
“Together, we can create a meaningful dialogue and contribute to shaping a more inclusive and responsive society.”
