Edo PDP Chairman Recounts Ordeal In Kidnappers’ Den

The chairman of the Edo State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Tony Aziegbemi, has recounted his ordeals in the hands of his abductors, praying that his worst enemies would never go through what he experienced.

DAILY POST reports that the PDP chairman was abducted by six gunmen at the entrance of his house after a meeting with the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki at government house on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11 pm.

He was, however, released on March 26, 2024 after 11 days in the den of the kidnappers.

The kidnappers were reported to have demanded a N500 million ransom to release the abductee.

But, at the time of his release, there was no details as to the amount actually paid as ransom to the kidnappers.

Aziegbemi, who spoke on his experience when the deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu paid him a visit for Easter celebration in his residence in Benin City on Sunday, shared the difficult moments he faced in the hands of his abductors.

“I would not wish anyone, even my worst enemies, to go through the ordeal I had in the kidnappers den,” he said.

Shaibu, who was accompanied on the visit by friends and political associates thanked God for the chairman’s safe return from the den of kidnappers.

The deputy governor, who said his visit was to celebrate Easter with him, noted that he had a personal bond with the family of Aziegbemi.

“We came to celebrate Easter with our chairman and also thank God for his safe return home from the den of kidnappers.

“I had a personal bond with the family of Aziegbemi. Don’t forget I am the godfather to Aziegbemi’s twin babies,” he said.
