The Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria (DSFN) will be holding its annual awareness week programme. It commences from the 29th of September and runs till October 11th 2015.
It comprises a series of activities created to promote, focus and highlight the Foundations efforts in advocating the rights of people living with the condition utilizing social, educational and medical platforms
Details as follows:
- PRESS CONFERENCE
The Week commences on Tuesday, 29th September with a press conference. Venue is the Foundations resource centre located at 43, Adegoke Street, Surulere. Time: 10:00am prompt.
- CHILDRENS PERFORMANCE AT FREEDOM PARK
On Wednesday, September 30th from 7:00pm, the children will join Seun Olota, a rising musician on stage at the Freedom Park as part of efforts to create awareness for the programme. They had their debut at the same place on March 21st during the World Down Syndrome Day.
- CHARITY WALK
This event will hold on Saturday, October 3rd 2015. Route is the Awolowo Road/Onikan axis Ikoyi, Lagos. Time: 7:00am. Friends, families and members of the public can join us. It is an opportunity to keep fit as well as create awareness.
- SEMINAR
The seminar will be graced by four international speakers from the United States. They comprise the following: Gatlin Steven Fredrick, Yates Nathan Richard, Whalen Jennifer Ann & Yates Isaac Samuel.
Key topical issues include medical/health concerns and educational/vocational possibilities regarding people living with the condition.
Date is Tuesday, 6th October. Venue: The Sickle Cell Centre, Idi-Araba, opposite LUTH. Time: 9:00am
- GALA / AWARD NIGHT AND FUND RAISING DINNER
A high profile and anticipated evening of fun and laughter. Tickets N10’000:00 per head. N100’000:00 per table. Date is Thursday, 8th October. Venue, the Yoruba Tennis club. Time: 6:00pm
THE FAMILY FUN DAY
In addition, we will be holding our 5 A –Side family football Charity match and fun fair on the 11th October 2015 from 1pm – 5:30 pm. The charity match is open to all interested members of the public, corporate bodies, media houses etc. who wish to participate, for a minimum contributory donation of N25’000. Venue is: The Kernel Recreational Park, 6A Kernel Street, off Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.
