CiSCAES Warns Against Rigging of Osun Gov poll

The Civil Society Committee For Anti-Fraud Election Security (CISCAES) in collaboration with 40 MILLION BALLOTS MOVEMENT has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guild against any electoral malpractices in the Osun governorship election scheduled for Saturday, July 16.

A statement by Prof Pat Utomi, Chairman, National Consultative Front (NCF); Comrade Kennedy Iyere, Convener of the Civil Society Committee For Anti-Fraud Election Security (CISCAES) and 40 Million Ballots Movement; Funke Awolowo, Member of National Steering, Committee National Consultative Forum and Oloye Adegboyega Adeniji NCFRONT LAGOS State Chairman and National Coordinator, Peace Action Transformation, the group said Nigerians must do everything possible to protect the voting processes of the Osun 2022 governorship poll.

“Consequently, it has become imperative to review the alarm of the authenticated assertions by CISCAES which reinforced those of other observers and of the press to confirm that the recently conducted Ekiti Guber-Poll was marked with fraudulent practices.

“Thus, it is therefore very imperative to initiate proactive anti-fraud interventions ahead of the forthcoming Osun 2022 guber-poll, which will be held on Saturday 16th July, 2022,” it said.

The group further said it will be taking the responsibility to alert the generality of Nigerians and the international community that unless proactive preventive measures are adopted to forestall fraudulent practices, it has become predictable that the Osun 2022 guber poll may be hijacked.

“As Nigerians, we must do everything within our means to protect the voting processes of the Osun 2022 Guber-Poll from being hijacked and manipulated by the “Powers That Be.”

It said there would be a press conference on Monday, July 11 to sensitise Nigerians on the need to protect their votes and carry out their civic responsibilities.
